Sea Rocket Bistro Has Sold, Will Close in December

New, 1 comment

Sea Rocket Bistro, the local seafood restaurant that moved into The Linkery's former North Park space over five years ago, has announced that they will close next month.

Sunday, December 8 will be the "boat-to-throat" eatery's last day of service; the 30th Street location will be remodeled and reopened in a few months by a new owner. Details on the new concept are scarce, but Eater's hearing that it might be a mac and cheese-centric menu.

In a blog post, Sea Rocket co-owner Elena Rivellino remarked that she and business partner Dennis Stein came to "accept that the costs of doing business this way exceed the restaurant's ability to make money." The community-minded restaurant often held fundraisers for non profit organizations and remained committed to serving local and sustainable foods.

Stein told Eater that "There are many changes we could have made to improve profitability, like get a deep frier or add a front patio, but we are ready to let someone else make those changes instead of spending the time and money required to do them ourselves."
