Kensington Cafe Updates Design, Menu

Eater readers told us they were excitedly anticipating the new iteration of the Kensington Cafe so we popped over for a peek at the space, which reopened yesterday after a two week shutter.

The four and a half year old eatery's kitchen needed new floors, so owner Lauren Passero took the opportunity to give the dining room a modern update and decorate the walls with new artwork and historical photos of the Kensington neighborhood.

Passero also added three new beer taps and gave the menu an overhaul, telling Eater that she wanted to make the dishes more unique and house made. Additions include roasted vegetables with quinoa, homemade pot roast and a kale and butternut squash salad; the kitchen is now also baking all their own pastries.

Passero opened The Haven Pizzeria in Kensington earlier this year and says though she's not actively looking, her next spot will likely be outside of the neighborhood.
