Since it's still Cocktail Week, we thought we'd check in on the progress of Old Harbor Distilling Co., the new craft distillery anchored in the East Village.
Founder Michael Skubic says that his 1,000 liter still will arrive next month and that he should be ready to start producing spirits by early December, with inaugural bottles possibly emerging in January. Skubic intends to first release his coffee liqueur, a collaboration with Coffee & Tea Collective and one of his several planned gin varieties, with many of the key ingredients (sage, cilantro, cucumbers) sourced from local farms.
With the recent new legislation that allows California craft distilleries to offer tastings, Old Harbor's facility will include a 600-square-foot tasting room that Skubic is currently designing with a cocktail bar consultant.
