Barista Throwdown; Birthday for US Grant; New Bulgogi Burger

NORTH PARKCoffee & Tea Collective is playing host to Thursday Night Throwdown, a local barista battle put on by the San Diego Coffee Network. The 7 to 9 p.m. event, scheduled for October 17, is open to the public; local roasters will be pouring tasting flights from the pour over bar during the competition. DOWNTOWNThe US GRANT Hotel is celebrating its 103 birthday with a day of fun that includes free food and drink. On Tuesday, October 15, register for one of the four free historical tours of the property that includes a Yummy Cupcake Truffle infused with the hotel's 100 day barrel-aged whiskey and a persimmon pumpkin punch. LIBERTY STATION— The latest meat on meat concoction from the Slater's 50/50 kitchen is the Bulgogi BBQ Beef Burger. Available throughout October, the seasonal special tops a beef patty with cucumber kimchi, bulgogi, mushrooms and wonton chips.
