NORTH PARK— Thorn St. Brewery is planning an Oktoberfest event on Sunday, October 20 that'll include music, games and of course, beer; in the works is an autumnal spiced ale, made with pumpkins from Suzie's Farm. For the fest, La Jolla's Bella Vista Social Club and Caffe will be providing authentic Oktoberfest fare including brats, dumplings and sauerkraut. [EaterWire].
SOUTH PARK— This Saturday, October 5 is the return of the South Park Walkabout, from 6 to 10 p.m. The theme is "Altars & Icons", so Alchemy Cultural Fare & Cocktails is planning on a Dia de los Muertos taco stand. Make sure to stroll by the just-shuttered Vagabond, where Brabant Bar & Cafe, the new proprietor, will be giving out Belgian frites. [EaterWire]
LITTLE ITALY— CAXAO Artisan Chocolates is just putting the finishing touches on their new cafe and tea shop and planning to open its doors Friday at 1 p.m. Stop in to sample their confections, eat a pastry and sip organic coffee and tea. [Facebook]
LA JOLLA— Spoiler alert: on last night's premiere of the new season of Top Chef, NINE-TEN sous chef Ramon Bojorquez was sadly the first contestant to have to pack his knives and go; Borjorquez is now back in the NINE-TEN kitchen. Eater National has a recap of the first episode. [~EN~]
