If you frequented The Linkery, your eyes might need to adjust a little to take in the new Waypoint Public from John Pani (Little Italy's Hotel Vyvant), Brian Jensen (Bottlecraft) and chef-partner Amanda Baumgarten, which plans to open later this month. The corner building's facade has been painted a gleaming white and the interior reconfigured to maximize seating and light, thanks to an additional garage door that rolls up onto 30th Street. New too is a wood assemblage by local artist Chris Konecki that depicts Waypoint's bear mascot/logo.
The centerpiece of the new space is a 28 foot bar and behind it, 30 taps of beer. The dining room will hold a mix of communal tables and smaller seating configurations; lining the walls will be a counter height rail with bar stools. In a few months, look for a sidewalk patio that'll accommodate 20 diners.
The small room to the right of the entryway has been walled off, with the intention of using the side space for a grab-and-go food spot; an existing back room may be used for future beer dinners.
