DOWNTOWN— The Oceanaire Seafood Room is holding an event on Tuesday, November 12 that's a must for ostreaphiles (oyster-lovers) and will explore pairing oysters and wine. Executive chef Sean Langlais is cooking a six-course dinner featuring bivalves from both coasts, including two flights of raw oysters and a fried oyster salad with sea urchin aioli. Call 619-858-2277 for reservations. [EaterWire]
EAST VILLAGE— We won't see winter for some time but Neighborhood's Anthony Schmidt (in the running for Eater's Best Bartender) is preparing us for sub-70 degrees by launching a few wintery cocktails, including the just-debuted "DOUBLE R" which mixes homemade Fireball (cinnamon whiskey) with stout, cold brew from Coffee & Tea Collective and a dash of cream and grated cinnamon; look for Schmidt's version of a hot toddy to roll out soon. POINT LOMA— For the gluten-free folks who don't want to miss out on Beer Week, Sessions Public will be the place to be anytime after 5 p.m. on Monday, November 4. Chef Brandon Brooks is making their entire menu gluten-free for the evening, plus adding some pork-centric dishes. A variety of ciders and gluten-free beers will also be featured. [EaterWire]
