Lefty's Pizza and Brooklyn Girl are about to get some company in Mission Hills. The Gathering's spot will soon have a new tenant and San Diego Magazine says that The Patio on Lamont has signed a lease to build out a second restaurant on their block of Goldfinch.
The Patio on Goldfinch is taking over the 3,900 square-foot space that has sat half-finished since 2009, when restaurateur Philippe Beltran intended to open it as a concept called Papa Nanou, before he joined the Cohn Restaurant Group.
Early reports say that The Patio on Goldfinch aims to launch by Spring 2014 with "more seafood" than its Pacific Beach counterpart. Owner Gina Champion-Cain says that the Lamont outpost's chef, John Medall, will have some input on the menu since they'll keep some of their "branded Patio items", but Champion-Cain told Eater that she's also in the market for a new chef for this concept.
