Waypoint Public's bar was up and running over the weekend but tonight marks the debut of the new North Park restaurant's full kitchen service.
Chef/partner Amanda Baumgarten has crafted what she's calling an "eclectic California neighborhood bistro menu" that includes three types of house made terrines, two riffs on a burger, seafood (charred octopus, fried oyster tacos), meat (pork and veal meatballs, flank steak with chimichurri) and surf & turf (mussels and pork belly).
Brian Jensen (Bottlecraft) provided beer pairing suggestions for each dish and is curating the bar's 30 taps; he's also assembled a beer list that exceeds 300 bottles.
Jensen told Eater that they want Waypoint to be family-friendly, hence the kids play area that been created in a corner of the dining room.
The restaurant plans to serve bar snacks in the late afternoon and offer a weekday happy hour, with dinner service starting at 5 p.m. Weekend brunch is in the works and will debut in the coming weeks.
