MISSION HILLSThe Wellington Steak & Martini Lounge's new executive chef Karrie Hills is introducing her nearly all-new menu tonight; beyond steak, Hills has added a seared duck breast served with brandied fig demi, sautéed greens and bleu cheese sweet potato gratin and a mushroom tart baked in phyllo that's topped with house smoked Fontina. To go with the new food, how about some live music? It's offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. [EaterWire]

LA JOLLA— Honorary chef chair Nate Appleman is bringing together an impressive line-up of culinary stars to the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines for the annual Kawasaki Disease Foundation's "To Save a Child's Heart" gala, scheduled for Saturday, November 9. The intimate event seats you with a small group for a five-course dinner prepared tableside by celeb chefs who'll each cook their own custom menu; participating chefs include Cafe Boulud's Gavin Kaysen, Los Angeles' Vinny Dotolo from Animal and Ben Ford (Ford's Filling Station), Balena in Chicago's Tony Quartaro and San Diego's own William Bradley (Addison), Matt Gordon (Sea & Smoke) and Joe Magnanelli (Cucina Urbana). DEL MAR— Does anyone remember Shanghai City on Convoy? The Chinese restaurant's original chef/owner forayed briefly into Asian fusion with downtown's Dragon Den but has since sold his share and is now the proprietor of a new restaurant that takes the place of Del Mar's Double Happiness (1011 Camino Del Mar). Chef Zhu Chinese Restaurant will start offering more authentic Shanghainese dishes and launches Chinese breakfast this weekend. [EaterWire]
