PACIFIC BEACH— On Wednesday, January 16, Great News Cookware & Cooking School is featuring an all-salmon recipe cooking class with Mary Ann Vitale, chef-owner of La Jolla's La Taverna and Sorella della Taverna (try her coconut cake). The $49 class includes demos of five dishes, including smoked salmon tagliatelle, salmon and leek risotto and balsamic-glazed salmon steaks. [EaterWire]

LA JOLLA — A favorite North County eatery makes a trip south for a cooking class at Cups La Jolla. Chef Monica Szepesy, owner of Q'ero in Encinitas will be showcasing a Peruvian menu for her Thursday, January 17 event. Some of the family recipes she'll cook up includes fish ceviche, a creamy chicken dish called aji de gallina and lomo saltado, steak sauteed with onions, tomatoes and French fries —trust us, it works.
