Joining Tender Greens on Broadway is Spike Africa's Fresh Fish Grill & Bar, a new 4,200 square foot restaurant gearing up to open on the corner of Fourth and Broadway in first part of January. Named after a legendary schooner captain who was once called the "President of the Pacific Ocean", the restaurant is a seafood-focused eatery (more upscale than some of Spike Africa's managing partners' previous projects — the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurants and the Rusty Pelican chain) with a design they're calling "urbanautical" — lots of reclaimed wood, metal, brick and a bar ballasted by heavy poles made to resemble ship's masts.

Chef Paul Rinaudo is at the helm in the kitchen; menu highlights include the Port Townsend Simmer, a seafood and tomato broth stew, pan seared scallops with sausage and fennel, fresh oysters and ceviche. To drink, there's wine, beer and craft cocktails. The restaurant will start with a dinner service and eventually add lunch; the partners also own a 2,300 square foot property adjacent to Spike Africa's, where they're looking to develop an entirely different food concept.
