Two chefs, two cuisines, one wine. This Friday, Tijuana's Chef Miguel Angel Guerrero, a champion of Baja Med cuisine, will join longtime friend Chef Martin Gonzalez at Gonzalez's TOAST Enoteca & Cucina for a friendly culinary competition. Each chef will be presenting a dish to pair with a different Argentine wine; at the end of four courses, you'll judge whose food made the better match.

Chef Guerrero, who was just in town to screen his Baja-focused documentary, will be serving clam chowder with red pepper oil and a duck taco with an almond and nine chile sauce; Gonzalez (who also owns the Gaslamp's Acqua Al 2) is staying faithful to his Italian culinary style with scallops in a white wine and olive reduction and a pasta casserole with shrimp sauce.
Friday's dinner is $50 per person and starts at 7 p.m; call for reservations.
