La Mesa's Gingham Restaurant experienced an early morning fire on Sunday, caused by cleaning rags that combusted and ignited several nearby propane tanks, causing damage to the outside of the building and some of the patio walls. The restaurant's Facebook page indicated that doors will reopen tomorrow, but check their Twitter feed for the latest update. UPDATE: the restaurant's tentative plans are to reopen on Thursday.
