The latest addition to the Cafe Chloe family is just six months old, but that baby already looks all grown up and ready to party. Christened with the middle names of the children of Cafe Chloe's co-owners — husband and wife team John Clute and Alison McGrath, and business partner Tami Ratliffe, the new Oliver & Rose sits in the quiet rear of a 1920's ivy-covered brick building, just a half-block or so from Cafe Chloe's corner on 9th and E.
McGrath took Eater on a tour of the former sculpture studio, which will still see a rotating show of local art on its rustic brick walls. The partners have renovated two spaces into one, separated by a set of doors which hides Oliver & Rose's kitchen-in-progress. So far, the room has only been used for private events, with Executive Chef Katie Grebow catering out of Cafe Chloe's, but McGrath suggested that the site will soon be ready to put on seasonal pop-up dinners for the public (it'll play host to the next Cooks Confab eatfest on December 16) and even someday, maybe, a full-fledged second eatery for the team; a concept with a broader Mediterranean reach that allows for more variety than the French-inflected Chloe menu.
