Stone Brewing Co. CEO and Co-Founder Greg Koch took a few minutes out of his busy Beer Week schedule to give Eater San Diego a hard hat tour of the company's new Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens — Liberty Station location, slated to open April 2013. After a year-long delay, construction on the property is at full-bore to transform the 22,000 square foot historical space into a 40 tap craft beer mecca for Point Loma. The space will encompass an acre's worth of hedge-lined beer garden, plus a few other large outdoor spaces — one's earmarked for a bocce ball court, another for screening movies. The new location will also include a Stone Company Store, private event space and a 10-barrel brewing system, installed in a glassed-in room just behind the bistro's hostess stand (brewer Kris Ketcham will be the guy on-site).

After completing a recent expansion of their Escondido bistro's kitchen and outdoor dining space and opening a Stone Company Store last month in Pasadena, next on tap for the Koch and crew is a craft beer infusion for the San Diego Airport — another Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens and a separate bar tasting area that are planned for a June/July 2012 opening. And what about that Europe project? Koch shared that after identifying a possible spot in Berlin, negotiations fell through after a year's deliberation and the company will start scouting again in early 2013.
