French bistros seems to be on the rise in San Diego, with the recent debut of Et Voila!on Adams Avenue and the impending launch of Parc Bistro-Brasserie in Bankers Hill. Newly minted in La Jolla is Le Petit Bistrot, now softly open in La Plaza La Jolla where it joins Catania on the third floor of the complex and spans a 1,677 square-foot space with 80 seats and an ocean view terrace above Girard Avenue.
The new eatery, part of a franchise that was established in Florida and has outposts planned in Santa Barbara, CA and Savannah, GA, takes inspiration from the classic bistros of Paris. Open for lunch and dinner daily, with breakfast on weekends, Le Petit Bistrot's kitchen is led by French chef Theivan Luce and his sous chef Andy Ho, who are overseeing a menu that includes the traditional escargots and soupe a l’oignon, plus a beef filet or burger topped with foie gras.
